Putney House

AtelierWest’s largest single house project entailed a comprehensive overhaul of a unique Victorian villa in Putney. With a new basement and rear extensions the property grew to over 5,200sqft on completion.

The main challenge was to ensure we could run the refurbished property off a pair of heat pumps, so to that end we designed and coordinated a robust thermal insulation package, along with MVHR, underfloor heating, and glazing upgrades. This was the largest single Victorian house our energy consultants had worked on, and the end result was still sympathetic to the original style which the clients were keen to preserve.

The rear extensions (with the bricks carefully matched to the existing house) included bespoke detailing and large arches to enhance seamless additions which would bring more light into the rear spaces and connect to the garden. The existing roof had been poorly extended in the past, so this was reconfigured to the rear, to create a large playroom with dormer, along with a new skylight to the original staircase (carefully stripped and restored).

AtelierWest also helped oversee the implementation of the interior design package as well as a new garden scheme with swimming pool.
